A well-known saying goes, “An educational system isn’t worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn’t teach them how to make a life.” Keeping this in view, we thrive to set-up an education pattern that furnishes all the pedagogical requirements and ingrains value education in the students. Women education and empowerment are integral aspects. To my mind an educational institute is not just about bricks, mortar and concrete, but more about building character, enriching minds and creating learning experiences that last a lifetime. With this perspective, we at Vanita Vishram Women’s College of Commerce set high academic standards with a greater emphasis on value education.
Having been established on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, July 9, 1998, the name of Vanita Vishram Women’s College of Commerce is known far and wide primarily for its academics. The results of B. Com. have always been extraordinary at the University. Not only this but also our students have held positions in the merits of the University. These excellent academic records of our students do not end up with the University results but get translated into fruitful careers by displaying excellence in professional examinations like CA and CS every year and also get rank in the said Examinations at India level. Apart from academic excellence, our Students have also shown remarkable performance in sports and co-curricular activities.
Anatole France once said, “Nine-tenths of education is encouragement.” So, to motivate the students on the personal & professional front along with regular lectures we also organize Inter and Intra-College Events, Seminars, Workshops, lectures on C.V. Preparation and Interview Skills; Bank Visits, Summer Internship with HDFC Bank, Career Counseling Sessions, Campus Interviews, Educational & Industrial Visits, Parents’ Meet, Personality Development programmes, Self Defense Training sessions etc. Further, in order to develop our students as humane citizens, socially inclined activities like Blood Donation Camp, Thalassemia Check-up Camp, Being Human Week Celebration-Donation week are also conducted every year.
Keeping in mind the professional escalation & employability of students, along with degree programmes of B.Com. & B.B.A., the College authorities & visionaries of the Management offers various career-oriented vocational courses like CCC of NIELIT, Tally with GST, Web Design & Development, Graphic Designing, Data Entry Operator, Digital Marketing, Cyber Security Fundamentals, SCOPE-certified by Cambridge University, Communication Skills and Personality Development, IBPS Training for Bank Clerk & P.O. Examinations. We also propose to commence some diploma courses in Income Tax, preparatory classes for UPSC & GPSC etc. for augmentation of students in near future.
Our college has the privilege to have a healthy and harmonious ambience and the credit goes to the blessings of our elite and visionary Vanita Vishram Management. In addition, I deem it as an outstanding initiative on the part of our management to confer a substantial amount of Rs. 5,00,000/- as Scholarships, Free-ships & Cash Prizes to the deserving and meritorious students of our college. It reflects the commitment of the Management to the mission of women empowerment in a true sense.
It gives me immense pleasure to announce that from the Academic Year 2015-16, college has been affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. Also to provide students with diverse career opportunities, the college has commenced the B. B. A. Programme from the academic year 2017 -18. Also it is a matter of pride for us that despite being self-financed college, we have received 2 (f) & 12 (B) status from UGC in the academic year 2018-19.
I assure that the college will always persevere to climb the ladder of success and contribute meaningfully to the noble objective of women empowerment through quality education.
I am pleased to announce that from the academic year 2019-20, we have started M. Com. affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University.
