Activities

The Career Guidance Cell: It is a dynamic cell which enables the students making headstrong groundwork for their future careers. Dedicated efforts are made towards extensive training in preparing CV, managing group discussions and facing personal interviews. It intends to make them career oriented and helps them for an effective job search. The college has State-of-the-art facilities for steering seminars, guest lectures and workshops. It assists enrichment of job-related requisites for professional advancement of students.

2019-20

Professional and Vocational Courses: The College expedites the following professional and vocational courses for the educational progress and professional development of students. During the Academic Year 2019-20 total 516 students got enrolled and took the benefit of the following courses:

Annual Certificate Distribution Ceremony: To rejoice the success and to honor the feats of the students, the college organized ‘7thAnnual Certificate Distribution Ceremony’. It was graced by Mr. Mihir Thakkar, President, WIRC, ICAI Surat Branch as a Chief Guest, Mr. D. B. Purohit, Placement Officer, VNSG University Placement Section & DBIM, Surat, as a Guest of Honor. Around 150 students were felicitated for successful completion of vocational courses like CCC Course of NIELIT, DELL Course through Words Worth, Personality Development & Communication Skills Programme, HDFC Summer Internship Certificate, Bhartiya Sanskruti Gyan Pariksha and Tally ERP.9 Professional Accountant Course, Web Design and Development, Data Entry Operator, Graphics Designing. Apart from this two alumni namely Ms. Bindiya Deladiya who is working with Tally ERP Software Solutions as a Trainer and Ms. Shreya Vishwakarma who is associated with Kotak Mahindra Bank, Surat were also felicitated for attaining prominent positions in the Banking sector after benefitting from our Banking & Computer courses.

Visits to Banks: During this academic year visit to Athwagate Branch of HDFC Bank Ltd, was arranged in order to help students to understand the banking operations practically at both the administrative and branch levels. This visit increased the awareness of overall administrative operations, functioning of the loan and the treasury departments, electronic clearing system and routine branch operations like fund transfer (NEFT, RTGS), clearing, functioning of ATM, cash counting, note recognition, operations of various accounts etc. The fervent staff gave generous support in the visit.

Educational and Industrial Visits: The College has organized educational and industrial visits to provide knowledge about practical working in the industry and educational institutions. Educational Visit to Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India- Gandhinagar was organised. These visits were planned keeping in mind the entrepreneurial prospects which the students can develop within themselves.

Also, an industrial visit was organised to Adani Hazira Port Pvt Ltd for the students to grasp the practical facets of export and import management.

Boosting Entrepreneurial Spirit: The students were provided an opportunity to recognize and nurture their entrepreneurial talent through participation in Exhibition cum Sale organized by the college. Here the students not only participated in Best Out of the Waste, Cake Decoration and Chocolate Bouquet Making Competition and but also displayed and marketed their hand-made items. They gained practical experience of dealing with the customers and costing their products by making a cost-sheet. The Movie Rocket was showcased to boost the business acumen and negotiation skills in students. The Entrepreneur’s Week was celebrated wherein various activities including Entrepreneurship Competition, Start-up Competition was organised for enhancing marketing, production and HR related skills of the students and for helping them to get a hands-on experience of real business situations. A seminar on Start-ups was organised wherein young successful entrepreneur CA Mehul Shah, Mr. Gaurav Duggal and Mr. Bhautik Sheth were invited to address the students. Visit to EDII, Gandhinagar and Entrepreneurship Development Programme were initiated in collaboration with Center for Entrepreneurship Development- an organization of Govt. of Gujarat.

Two Weeks Entrepreneurship Development Programme: This programme was organized in collaboration with Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) – A Government of Gujrat organization for 12 days starting from 30/01/20. 35 students enthusiastically participated in this two weeks training conducted by renowned HR Managers, CA, Academicians, and Bankers which focused on enhancing the capacity of students to develop, manage & organize a business venture, keeping in mind the risks associated with it. The programme received overwhelming response & by the end of the programme students started exploring their innate talent of coming up with a new business venture & being a job-provider instead of job-seeker.

Summer Internship: One-month Summer Internship was organized in various branches of HDFC Bank, Surat wherein students learnt digital banking along with regular operations of the bank. They were also trained to deal with the customers. Total 29 students of our college successfully completed the internship.

Placement Cell Activities: The students are registered in the Placement Cell every year. They are contacted through e-mails, messages as well as notices on a regular basis about upcoming vacancies throughout the year. The cell functions as an intermediary and it not only updates job related information to students but also guides them to apply in various organizations looking for candidates.

Job Fair: A Job Fair was organised in the college by the Placement Cell. It was conducted in two phases-

  • CV and Interview Preparation session
  • Campus Interviews

Nine prominent organizations and consultancy services of Surat including Big Bazaar, ICICI Bank, Sarita Sagar Sankul Trust, ShilpMIS Technologies, IDT, Accounting Baba, Seven Star Construction, Bankedge, First ERP Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd. had participated. The job opportunities were relating to counselling, front desk, back-office, accounting and auditing, banking and retailing. Around 120 candidates appeared for the interview and around 50 were shortlisted by the interviewers.The existing students as well as the past students availed the opportunity to get employed in reputed organizations.

During this academic year visits to HDFC Bank Ltd., was organized in order to help students to understand the banking operations banking practically at both the administrative and branch levels. This visits increase the awareness of overall administrative operations, functioning of the loan and the treasury departments, electronic clearing system and routine branch operations like fund transfer (NEFT, RTGS etc.), clearing, functioning of ATM, cash counting, note recognition, operations of various accounts etc. The enthusiastic staff lent unstinting support in the visits.


Educational and Industrial Visits:

The college has organized educational and industrial visits to provide knowledge about practical working in the industry and educational institutions. Educational Visits to IIM- Ahmedabad, AURO University, and S R Luthra Institute of Management were organised. These visits were planned keeping in mind the diverse career and higher education opportunities which the students can pursue after passing their graduation.

An industrial visit was organised to Garden Silk Mills Ltd., Jolwa was also organised for the students to comprehend the practical aspects of production management.

Around 150 students were felicitated for successful completion of vocational courses like CCC Course of NIELIT, DELL Course through Words Worth, Personality Development & Communication Skills Programme, HDFC Summer Internship Certificate, Man n Moneta Summer Internship Certificate, Bhartiya Sanskruti Gyan Pariksha and Tally ERP.9 Professional Accountant Course. Apart from this Ms. Archana Sawant and two other alumni namely Ms. Amrita Dhoka who is working with Surat People’s Co- Bank and Ms. Savita Choudhary who is associated with Federal Bank, Vapi Branch who had attained prominent positions in the Banking sector after benefitting from our courses were felicitated.

For the first time Internship in Financial Markets was organized at Man n Moneta Experts Pvt. Ltd., Surat. Students learnt about mutual funds, share trading and various other aspects of financial markets. They were trained to deal with the customers. Total 2 students of our college successfully completed the internship.


Financial Markets Training Camp:

The college has organized ‘Financial Markets Training Camp’ entitled Mission ‘Siddhika’ in association with ICICI Securities. It consisted Training Sessions, Mock-test and Examination on NISM capital market examination. Successful students get an opportunity to work with ICICI Securities as Mutual Fund Advisors.

Shah, the President of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry as the Chief Guest and Mr. Chetan Trivedi, Vice President and Cluster Head- Branch Banking of HDFC Bank, Surat Region as the Guest of Honour. Around 288 students were felicitated for successful completion of vocational courses offered by the college during academic year 2016-17.

Prominent Companies and Consultancy Services like Divya Bhaskar Group, Rao and Emmar Chartered Accountants, First ERP Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Little Millenium School, Institute of Design and Technology, National Group, Endeavor Careers Pvt. Ltd., Jindal Gadia & Co, BGA Foundation, Bajaj Capital and Shree Mahavir Enterprises conducted the interviews for the students and recruited them in coveted positions. Around 176 candidates faced the interviews. The existing students as well as the past students availed the opportunity to secure placements in reputed organisations. Out of these 53 candidates were shortlisted.


Activities for Boosting Entrepreneurial Spirit:

  • The students were given a platform to identify and cultivate their entrepreneurial talent through participation in Food Festival and Exhibition cum Sale of Self-made products organized by the college.They gained practical experience of dealing with the customers and costing their products by making a cost-sheet.

  • The Movie Rocket Singh was showcased to boost the business acumen and negotiation skills in students.

  • The Entrepreneur Day was celebrated by organizing entrepreurship competition for enhancing marketing, finance and HR skills of the students and for helping them to get a hands-on experience of real business situations.

  • A Seminar on Start-up was organised wherein young successful entrepreneurs Mr. Sohan Kalsariya and Mr. Vijay Chouhan were invited to address the students.


Summer Internship:

In the month of May 2017, 13 students got a chance to undertake one month internship at various branches of HDFC Bank. They learnt about the operational activities of the bank like KYC documents stamping, cheque clearing, handling of various bank forms and customers loans.

Professional and Vocational Courses: The following professional and vocational courses are offered by the college for the augmentation and professional escalation of students.During the Academic Year 2016-17 total 326 students got enrolled and took the benefit of these courses:

  • Training Classes for Diploma in Banking and Finance Course of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF)
  • Training Classes for IBPS Bank P.O. and Clerical Examination in collaboration with RACE
  • A Course in English Proficiency and Accuracy through DELL
  • ERP 9 Professional Accountant Course in collaboration with ICPA
  • A Course in English Language Proficiency through SCOPE (Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English) certified by Cambridge University
  • Certificate Course on Computer Concepts (CCC) through National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT)
  • Communication Skills Course in order to develop the ability to speak English fluently, confidently and impressively.
  • Personality Development Course

Annual Certificate Distribution Ceremony: To celebrate the success and to honour the achievements of the students, the college organized ‘4th Annual Certificate Distribution Ceremony’ on 31st August 2016 which was graced by Shri B.S. Agrawal, the President of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry as the Chief Guest and Mr. Manoj Mistry, Circle Head and Vice President, HDFC Bank, Surat and Mr. Vineet Gupta, Assistant General Manager, Bank of Baroda, Surat as the Guests of Honour. Also, PI Ashok Rao Kadamwas invited as the special guest for the occasion. Around 227 students were felicitated for successful completion of vocational courses offered by the college during last academic year 2015-16.

Job Fairs: Job Fairs have been conducted twice. They were conducted in Three Phases

  • CV and Interview Preparation session
  • Orientation by the interviewing organization
  • Campus Interviews

Prominent Companies and Consultancy Services like Irfan Modi Corporation Ltd.,Country Club, Little Millennium School, Market Hub Stock Broking, I.D.T., Endeavor Careers, RM Insure Care and BR Consultancy conducted campus interviews for the students and recruited them in coveted positions. Around 126 candidates faced the interviews. Not only the existing students but also the past students got the opportunity to get placement through these campus interviews.

Visits to Banks: During this academic year visits to HDFC Bank Ltd., Bank of Baroda were organized in order to help students to get clarity regarding the banking operations at the administrative as well as the branch levels. They gained the knowledge of overall administrative operations, functioning of the loan and the treasury departments, electronic clearing system and routine branch operations like fund transfer (NEFT, RTGS etc.), clearing, functioning of ATM, cash counting, note recognition, operations of various accounts etc. The enthusiastic and co-operative staff gave an in-depth explanation of banking operations to the students. This visit proved satisfactory and meaningful in creating awareness amongst students about how a bank operates internally.

Educational and Industrial Visits: Students of B.Com. Final year were taken for visits to Kribhco and DBIM of VNSG University. These visits were planned keeping in mind the diverse opportunities which can be made available to the students after passing their graduation.

Boosting Entrepreneurial Spirit: The students were given opportunities to recognize and develop their entrepreneurial talent through participation in Exhibition cum Sale organized by the college.Here the students not only participated in Miss Chef, Fevicryl Art and Craft Workshop and Best out of the Waste Competition but also displayed and marketed their hand-made items and gained practical experience of dealing with the customers.The Movie Guruwas showcased to boost the business acumen and negotiation skills in students. The Entrepreneur Day was celebrated by organizing various competitions like Ad-mad and Business Baazigar for enhancing marketing skills of the students and for helping them to get a hands-on experience of real business situations. A Seminar on Entrepreneurship was conducted wherein Ms. Asha R. Dave, Vice-President, South Gujarat Productivity Council was invited to address the students.

Placement Cell Activities: The registered students of the Placement Cell are regularly informed through messages as well as notices about different job openings throughout the year. The cell works as an intermediary and it not only provides job related information to students but also guides them to apply in various organizations looking for candidates. Thus, students have been sent to reputed organizations of Surat like Surat People’s Co-opreative Bank, Triveni Fashions, Endeavor Careers, HDFC Bank Ltd., L.P. Savani School, G.D. Goenka School etc.
