Activities

The college takes pride for conducting no. of activities under community/ social service band. Throughout the year, our students actively take part in activities targeted towards society and needy people.

2019-20

The main objective of NSS activities is service to community and in order to inculcate noble ideals of patriotism, compassion, kindness and love for all the strata of our society, varied activities were undertaken under the wing of NSS this year. A highlight of the same is presented below:

  1. Yoga Day Celebration & Workshop: As a part of International Yoga Day Celebration, a week long programme and activities were organized between 17.06.2019 and 22.06.2019. The activities undertaken were, Seminar on ‘Awareness towards Yoga & Inner Well Being’, Classroom Discussion on ‘Health Benefits of Meditation’, Poster Making and Yoga Competition and 3-Day Yoga Workshop.
  2. Seminar on Awareness against tobacco: A health counselling session was conducted on 29.06.2019 on the subject “Tobacco Addiction: Silent Killer”. It was conducted by Dr. Sanjay G. Shah, CMO, SVNIT.
  3. Seminar on Awareness for Blood Donation and Advantages of Blood Donation: The said seminar was conducted by The Blood Transfusion Officer at The Surat Raktdan Kendra & Research Centre, Dr. Abhay Jhaveri on 08.07.2019.
  4. Blood Donation Camp: On 22nd Establishment Day of the college i.e. 09.07.2019, a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized in association with the Surat Raktdan Kendra & Research Centre, JITO – Ladies’ Wing, Surat and The Lions’ Club of Surat – Spandan. In all 141 units of Blood was collected in the same.
  5. Tiranga Challenge: A seminar on Tiranga Challenge (Plantation Drive: Mission Oxygen) was scheduled on 27.07.2019 which was conducted by founders of Awareness Public Charitable Trust Dr. Vimal Rathi and Mr. Pravin Vora.
  6. Tree Plantation: Tree Plantation Activity was undertaken on 27.07.2019 in Vanita Vishram Campus. In all 50 trees were planted in the main open ground in VV Campus.
  7. Seminar on Road Safety & Traffic Rules Awareness: In association with 94.3 MY FM, Lion’s Club of Surat – Leo and Lion’s Club of Surat – Spandan, a seminar on Awareness for Road Safety & Traffic Rules & Regulations was organized on 07.2019 where students were motivated to follow all the traffic rules and regulations.
  8. Seminar on Spirituality: A seminar on ‘Spirituality – Happiness and I’ was organized on 30.07.2019. Priti Pandya, from Sheth C D Barfiwala College of Commerce conducted it.
  9. Celebration of Independence Day: With great fervour and patriotism, Independence Day was celebrated on 08.2019. Ms. Savi Sharma – A renowned Author and Alumna of this college was invited as Chief Guest.
  10. Fire Safety Training & Mock Drill: A workshop on “Fire Safety Awareness & Evacuation Drill – Table Talk Exercise” was organized on 28.8.2019 wherein all the College Staff as well as the Student’s representatives took part. A mock drill was organized on 06.09.2019.
  11. Stress Relief Activity: Singing Auditions: an exams stress relief programme in collaboration with 94.3 MyFM on 18.09.2019.
  12. Cleanliness Drive (Week) Celebration: On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, our college undertook series of activities in light of celebration of Cleanliness Drive between 30.09.2019 and 05.10.2019. The activities undertaken were, Cleanliness Drive on Surat Railway Station, Campus Walk on the theme of “Say No to Single Use Plastic”, College Cleaning, Awareness for personal hygiene and distribution of toiletries in Slum Area, Book Review on the Autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi.
  13. Awareness on New Motor Vehicles Act: In association with Surat Traffic Police Region 3, an awareness programme on ‘New Motor Vehicles Act and Traffic Rules Awareness’ organized on 09.10.2019.
  14. NSS Annual Camp: Annual NSS Camp for Academic Yea 2019-20 was organized at Ladvi Village, Near Kamrej, Surat from 10.19 to 20.10.19. In all 50 girls of F.Y.B.Com & F.Y.B.B.A participated in the same. Activities like Distribution of Sanitary Pads to girl and female residents of village– Awareness towards feminine hygiene, Rally on the theme of “Save Environment”, Cleanliness drive, Visit to Nandghar, Anaganwadi and Primary School, Prabhat Pheri on “Vyasan Mukti”, Saksharta Abhiyaan, Nukkad Natak and Programmes on the theme of Rape, Acid Attack, Dowry, Domestic Violence and Gender Equality, Awareness Rally on “Tree Plantation, Save Water, Demograhic Survey of the households, Dental Camp, Tree Plantation, Awareness Drive for maintenance of personal hygiene etc. were organized.
  15. Sickle Cell & Thalassemia Check-up Camp: It was organized on 10.12.19 and 12.12.19 for our First Year Students in association with The Surat Raktdan Kendra.
  16. Self Defence Workshop: One-Week workshop for Self-defence training was organized between 9.12.19 and 14.12.19 in the college premises in association with ISSKA HOMBU.
  17. Celebration of Youth Day: It was undertaken on 01.20 on the occasion of 156th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Activities like Elocution Competition, Essay Writing Competition etc. were undertaken.
  18. Celebration of Being Human Week: Donation Week was observed from 01.20 to 20.01.20. Things donated includes Stationery Kits, Chikki, Books, Woollen Clothes, Biscuits, toiletries etc. Awareness activities like importance of studies, say no to kites, importance of maintaining personal health & hygiene etc. were undertaken.
  19. Nukkad Natak on Traffic Awareness: On 01.20 girls performed nukkad natak on following the traffic rules and thereby creating awareness on following of traffic rules.
  20. Seminar on Cervical & Breast Cancer: On the occasion of World Cancer Awareness Day on 02.20 a seminar was organized on prevention of Cervical & Breast Cancer. It was conducted by team of doctors from Indian Medical Assosiation – Dr. Parul Vadgama- President of IMA, Dr. Nikunj Vithalani and Dr. Vikas Desai.
  21. Mahila Marathon Rally: On the occasion of World Girl Child Day on 24.01.20 a rally was organized on the theme of ‘Say No to Plastics’ and ‘Save Girl Child’ to create an awareness in the society. 80 of our students enthusiastically participated in the event, showcasing the importance of gender equality, saving environment and other prominent societal issues through banners and placards.
  22. Seminar on Stress Mangement through Healthy Crying: On 11.02.20, the said seminar was conducted by Mr. Kamlesh Masalawala, Director Healthy Crying Club, Surat which was attended by 100 students of F.Y. and S.Y.B.Com.
  23. Activities under Personal Health & Gynaecologist Counselling: College has constituted a Women Cell under which the following sessions were organized:

(i) Seminar on ‘Blood Donation and Anaemia Awareness’ by Dr. Rachna Dalal, Member, Indian Dietetics Association (IDA), Surat on 02/07/2019.

(ii) Seminar on ‘Breastfeeding: Foundation of Life’ by Dr. Meenakshi Tripathi of SPTMC.on the occasion of the World Breast Feeding Week on 01/08/20.

(iii) Seminar on ‘Gynecological, Psychological & Sexual Problems of Young Women’ by Dr. Purnima Nadkarni – Director, 21st Century Fertility Centre, Nimaaya, Surat on 28/08/19.

(iv) Seminar on ‘Child Abuse & Sexual harassment & Emotional Intelligence’ by Mr. Manish Gupta, Director, Buddhi World, Chennai on 03/12/19.

(v) Seminar on ‘Common Gynaec Problems in College Going Girls & Their Management’ by Dr. Kajal Mangukiya who is a renowned gynecologist of Surat city and is associated with Chains of Mangukiya Hospital Orkid, Surat on 11/02/2020.

2018-19

  1. World Environment Day was celebrated on June 5, 2018. Nearly 30 girls participated in the same. Awareness drive on the theme of “Beat the Plastic – Refuse it if you cannot reuse it” was undertaken. Girls along with the members of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff took pledge for doing their best to stop pollution and make planet greener. Campus March was also undertaken by the girls to spread awareness for reducing the use of plastic. Various posters relating to Environment and its Conservation were also displayed.
  2. International Yoga Day Celebration: Three-day workshop on Yoga and Meditation was organized. Practical Sessions on Yoga, Pranayam and Surya-Namaskaar were conducted. On June 21, 2018, International Yoga Day Celebration was organized. Participants demonstrated and performed different Yoga Postures and Pranayams. In all 100 girls actively participated in the celebrations.
  3. Seminar on Organ Donation: It was organized on June, 25 2018. Founder and President of Donate Life, Mr. Nilesh Mandlewala was invited to share knowledge about the transplantation and donation of Human Organs. He explained the importance of Cadaver Organ Donation and clarified the myths relating to organ donation. He also asked for help from our girls to work as volunteers in spreading awareness about Organ Donation. In all 121 girls participated and took pledge to spread awareness for the same.
  4. Blood Donation Camp: On 21st Establishment Day of our college, we organized voluntary blood donation camp in association with the Surat Raktdan Kendra and the Lions’ Club of Surat – Legendary on July 9, 2018 between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. We were able to collect record-breaking 89 units of blood with the support of our students, their family members, our staff members and their family and friends. Many of our students showed their willingness to donate blood but due to low level of hemoglobin could not do.
  5. Friendship Day Celebration: On August 3, 2018 a visit was organized on account of “Friendship Day Celebration” to Mamta– Mental Hygiene Clinic, Surat. 52 students brought friendship belts and chocolates for the mentally disabled children. They tied the friendship belts, distributed chocolates and played games with them. The main purpose of this visit was to ignite the social consciousness amongst the students and to develop sympathy for mentally disabled children.
  6. Donation for Kerala Flood Relief: An amount of 10,000/- rupees was contributed by the students & the staff on August 24, 2018. With this contribution around 1000 packets of wafers, mixture and many other dry snacks, 9 Amul Dairy Creamer, 400 packets of biscuits,140 bottles of   1-litre mineral water was purchased. In addition to this food grains, pulses and clothes were also collected and donated. Nearly 20 girls along with the peon assisted in packing the food packets and bottles. The team from the “Kerala Samajam Surat” (Kerala Flood Relief Centre) came to collect the relief material from the college.
  7. Visit to the Surat Raktdan Kendra & Research Centre: Visit was organized on 29-8-18 and 30-8-18. 80 Students participated in the same. Girls were also briefed about the entire procedure of how the blood is collected, processed, stored and issued. Girls were sensitized about importance of donating blood. In-house doctor present over there discussed about the common issues of blood donation.
  8. Swachchta Abhiyaan: The College observed “Swachhta Abhiyan” on September 20, 2018 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji wherein various activities like poster making, slogans and essay writing were conducted in the college premises. 30 girls participated in the same. The students also cleaned the college classrooms and passages. Campus March was conducted to spread & support the Swachchta Abhiyan of government.
  9. Surgical Strike Day Celebration: On account of Surgical Strike Day celebration, on September 28, 2018, 20 of our girls were sent to the University for the Celebration. On September 29, 2018 celebration was organized in the college premises where a documentary film was shown and a rally was taken out in the college campus. The messages for thanksgiving to the Indian Army were collected from the girls.
  10. Unity Day Celebration: National Unity Day was celebrated on October 30, 2018, in the college premises with patriotic fervor intending to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Nearly 50girls participated. Rashtriya Ekta Rally was organized in the campus. Girls took pledge for preserving national security of our nation. Rangoli Making on the theme of National Integrity was also organized. Slogan Writing Event was also undertaken in which students came up with different thoughts and slogans on National Unity. Posters on the theme of National Unity and India First were prepared and displayed in the college campus.
  11. Youth Day Celebration: National Youth Day was celebrated on January 12, 2019, to commemorate Swami Vivekanada’s 155th Birth Anniversary. Nearly 100 girls participated in the same. A documentary film depicting the biography of Swamiji was showed. Activities like – Power Point Presentations, Book Review and Group Discussion on Swamiji’s thoughts and views on different aspects like – religious tolerance, education, women’s liberation, youth and life were organized.
  12. Being Human Week Celebration: The joy of giving, being human week was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm this year from January 16 to 22, 2019. Essential items like Stationery Kits, Note Books, Parle G biscuits, Woolen Clothes, Sarees, Clothes, Rice, Dal and Toiletries & Sanitary Napkins were collected from college students and staff and were distributed in Government Schools, Government Hospitals, Anganwadi, Slums and Construction Sites. Students of NSS along with students’ council took part in the same.
  13. Feminine Health & Hygiene Awareness & Education Program: On January 22, 2019, an awareness program was organised in Sabargam Village wherein the women of the village were informed, trained and sensitized about the proper use and disposal of Sanitary Pads. Nearly 150 women were a part of this initiative. Sanitary Pads along with under garments were distributed to the girls and women free of cost.
  14. Helmet Day Celebration: With the view to sensitize students regarding following of Traffic Rules and to explain them the importance of wearing a helmet, Helmet Day was organized on February 5, 2019 in the college parking area. Nearly 50 girls participated in the same and undertook a pledge to wear a helmet while driving and to follow all the traffic rules diligently.
  15. Collection of Donation for Army: As a symbol of sympathy towards the families of our Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the ghastly Pulwama Attack that took place on February, 14 2019, NSS unit and Students’ Council collected cash donations from students and staff to donate the same in BHARAT KE VEER FUND. Sum of Rs. 32,315/- was collected on February 18, 2019.
  16. Scrap Collection & Donation: Joining hands with Awareness Public Charitable Trust and World Records Foundation in their flagship mission known as ‘Mera Shahar Swachh, Mera Bharat Swachh’ college collected household scrap from ‘Pin to Piano’ from the students and donated it on 3rd March, 2019 for recycling the waste to save environment.

2017-18

Tree plantation: A Tree Plantation Programme was conducted on 29/6/2017 at Shree Ambikaniketan Vruddhashram, Vesu. The Students of NSS along with the NSS In-charge Prof. Heena Dalal planted about100 plants and expressed their awareness towards Environment  through the slogans of “SAVE TREES SAVE EARTH”.

Awareness Programmes: To make our students reformers, thinkers and visionaries of tomorrow, many awareness programme were conducted during the year:

  • Blood Donation, Organ and Eye Donation Awareness Programme: It was organized on 28/6/17 by Ajay Mishra, Gastroenterologist and & Endoscopost and Dr. Bhupesh Chavda, Director Hari Om General Hospital Surat in association with a panel of Doctors from Family Physicians’ Association and Surat Raktdan Kendra.
  • Seminar on ‘Thalassemia Awareness’ was conducted on 11/12/2017 by Ms. Avni Shah, Research Officer, Surat Raktdan Kendra.
  • Traffic Awareness Workshop was organized on 10/02/2018 by Brijesh Verma-District Road Safety Coordinator, RTO, Surat and Shri Prashant Amin –P.S.I. Surat.

Celebration of Various Days: The N.S.S. unit of the college had organized celebration of Rakhi and Friendship Day with Vishwa Jagruti Mission Balashram; International Yoga Day by inviting Ms. Jyoti Tailor, Fitness Trainer; Group Day with Social Message; Uttrayan by distributing laddoos and chikkis to the students of Prayogik Kanya Shala of Vanita Vishram and made them aware about not to fly kites after sunset and how to rescue injured birds. Thus, these days are intended to create not only an atmosphere of fun, joy and excitement amongst students but also to make them realize their social and moral obligations.

Activities supporting the Swatch Bharat Mission: Mr. Rajendra Chouhan, SSI, TIME, SMC, Surat conducted a Seminar on ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ on 6/1/18 in which the students were informed how to segregate the dry and wet waste. Swachh bharat App, was also downloaded by the faculties and the students under “Swachh Bharat Mission”- an initiative started by Government of India, in which the students and the faculties were instructed to keep the city and the surroundings clean.

Organisation of Camps:

  • Blood Donation Camp: It was organized on the occasion of 20thEstablishment Day of the College by N.S.S. Unit & Alumni Association with the generous assistance and kind co-operation of Surat Raktadan Kendra, and Family Physicians Association. Around 60 units of blood was collected. Students, Faculty members, Parents and even the Alumni of the college actively participated in it.
  • Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Check-up Camp: It was organized in collaboration with Surat Raktadan Kendra on December 11, 2017 and around 304 students took the benefit of the same.
  • Civil Defense Camp: Civil Defense forms an indispensable part of modern civilized society. So, keeping in view the vital significance of students’ important and unavoidable role in disaster management, a 5- Day Civil Deffense Workshop was conducted on the college premises from 31/07/17 to 04/08/ 17 in collaboration with Civil Defense Force, Umra Division, Surat. Dr. P.P. Mistry, Chief Warden, Civil Defense Dept. Surat, personally rendered training to 50 students regarding Emergency Management and Civil Protection.

Celebration of Being Human Week: N.S.S. volunteers motivated all the students of the college to observe Being Human Week in which the students had organized donations like

  • Toys Donation: Toys were donated on 26/12/17 to the children at Anganwadi, Vesu.
  • Biscuits Donation: It was organized on 27/12/17. This humble contribution was made towards the patients of Civil Hospital, Surat.
  • Woolen Clothes and Toiletries Donation: It was organized on 28/12/17. These donations were made to the needy girls of Juvenile Home, Surat
  • Stationery and Note-Books Donation: It was organized on 3/1/18. These donations were made to the underprivileged students of various Prathmik Shalas run by SMC as an expression of compassion towards them.

These social awareness oriented activities help the college in transforming its students into more responsible citizens of the country.

2016-17

Tree plantation: A Tree Plantation Programme was conducted, under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Abhilasha Agarwal. The students of NSS along with the NSS In-charge Smt. Heena Dalal planted about100 plants on the campus ground and expressed their feelings towards environment awareness through the slogans of “SAVE TREES SAVE EARTH”.

  1. Blood Donation Awareness Programme was organized on 17/6/16 by Dr. Ashok Parikh, Chief Operations Manager, Surat Raktdan Kendra
  2. Organ and Eye Donation Awareness Programme was organized on 5/7/16byDr. Bhupesh Chavda, Director Hari Om General Hospital Surat in association with a Panel of Doctors from Family Physicians’ Association and Surat Raktdan Kendra.
  3. Anti-Ragging –An Awakening Session and Seminar on Anti-Sexual Harassment was organized on 29/6/16 and 7/7/16by Mrs. Geeta Shroff Social Worker & Activist
  4. Pre-Marital Counselling Seminar was organized on 15/7/16by Dr. Uma Arora, Director, Sage Enterprises Pvt. Ltd
  5. Road Safety Awareness Workshop was organized on 20/7/16 by Mr. Parimal Joshi, Director Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India in association with Ganga Automobiles, Surat
  6. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Awareness Rally was organized on 31/7/16 in Dharampur village by N.S.S. Unit of the college.
  7. Breast -Feeding: A key to Sustainable Development-
  8. Awareness Seminar was organized on 2/8/2016 by Sushma Desai &Dr. Shilpee Agarwal of Food & Nutrition Department of SPTMC was organized.
  9. Safe Driving and Safety Ride Training Workshop was organized on 27/8/2016 by Rasika Mahurkar, CSR Person, West Region, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India in association with Ganga Automobiles, Surat.
  10. Guest Lecture on ‘Awareness Regarding Breast and Cervical Cancer’ was organized on 6/12/2016 by Dr. Mitsu Doshi, Director, Me & Mummy Hospital, Surat.
  11. Anemia Awareness Programme was organized on 7/12/2016 by Dr. Manisha Jhawar, President of Surat Obstetric & Gynecological Society and Dr. Usha Valadra.
  12. Traffic Awareness Workshop was organized on 8/12/2016 by Brijesh Verma-Trainer, RTO, Surat, Shri S.N. Gamit- A. S. I.(Traffic & Crime),Shri M.G. Chopada -ACP(Traffic & Crime).
  13. Seminar on ‘Thalassemia Awareness’ was conducted on 13/12/2016 by Mrs. Avani Shah, Research Officer, Surat Raktdan Kendra.
  14. An Eye Donation Drive was organized on 4/1/2017 by Dhrushti Vision for Blind.

Celebration of Various Days: The N.S.S. unit of the college organized celebration of days like Friendship Day celebration with Mamta Charitable Trust, International Yoga Day with Ms. Sweety Pastagia, Fitness Trainer, Group Day with Social Message, Fitness Day, Hindi Diwas, Save Girl Child Day, Balloon Day with social message, etc. Also International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21/6/2016 by participating in the yoga event organized by VNSGU at Sarthana, Surat.

Thus these days are intended to create not only an atmosphere of fun, joy and excitement amongst students but also to make them realize their social and moral obligations.

Annual N.S.S. Camp: A 7-day Annual N.S.S. Camp has been organized from 15thOctober to 21st October, 2016 at Ambikaniketan Vruddhashram, Vesu, Surat in which 35 N.S.S. volunteers participated. In this camp, activities like cleaning of Vruddhashram along with its temple, offering services to the senior citizens, yoga, sports, cultural programme, bhajan and other activities were conducted. Apart from this, during the day time, the students took active involvement in social activities conducted in the neighbouring areas outside the Vrudhdhashram.  They organized rallies on various vital social issues like 1) Importance of Cleanliness 2) Beti Bacchao Beti Padhao 3) Save Environment 4) No Smoking, No Alcohol for creating awareness among the masses. Also various educational activities were conducted in two municipal schools of Bharthana, Surat.The students also went door to door and collected old newspapers and junk from homes and the money acquired from the sale of junk was utilized to donate stationeries to Bal Ashram, Nirmit Day Care. All these activities aimed at developing student’s personality through community service.

 Visits:

  1. Visit to Prathmik Shala, Bilpudi for Donation: 17 students visited Prathmik Shala in Bilpudi and donated the clothes packed age & gender wise properly to the school children of the tribal area. They also took placards related to social taboos like alcoholism, female-foeticide and smoking for creating awareness among the village masses. Through the interaction with the school children, our students developed sensitivity towards the unprivileged and also came to know of how the school children live & study despite the adverse situations they face.

Camps:

  1. Blood Donation Camp: It was organized on the occasion of College Establishment Day i.e. 9th July, 2016 by N.S.S. Unit & Alumni Association with the generous assistance and kind co-operation of Surat Raktadan Kendra, Lions Club and Family Physicians Association. Present students, faculty members and even the alumnus of the college donated blood which is a noble deed.
  2. Self-defence Training Camp: As a part of the government initiative of Women Empowerment 1 Self Defence workshop of 2 weeks was conducted in the month of September by Mr. Pamir Shah-Certified Self-Defense Trainer with Dynamic Warrior’s Academy Taking advantage of the invaluable opportunity 43 of our girls got enrolled in the camp in the current academic year too.
  3. Thalassemia Awareness and Check-up Camp was organized in collaboration with Surat Raktadan Kendra on 15th December2016 for B. Com Part I, II & III students to create awareness about the same.

These camps proved to be an eye-opener to all the students of the college in terms of overall physical health.

Celebration of Being Human Week: N.S.S. volunteers motivated all the students of the college to observe Being Human Week in which the students organized donations like

  1. Woolen Clothes and Toiletries: It was organized on 12/12/2016 respectively. These donations were made to the needy girls of Juvenile Home, Surat.
  2. Stationery and Note-books Donation: It was organized on 14-15/12/2016. These donations were made to the underprivileged students of various Prathmik Shala run by SMC as an expression of compassion towards them.
  3. Food Grains and Pulses Donation: It was organized on 16/12/2016. Donations were made to the workers and labourers on the construction site.
  4. Biscuits Donation: It was organized on 17/12/2016. This humble contribution was made towards the patients of Civil Hospital, Surat.

2015-16

Tree plantation: A Tree Plantation programme was conducted on the 21st of August 2015 in which about 100 saplings were planted in the college campus

Awareness Programmes: To make our students reformers, thinkers and visionaries of tomorrow, number of awareness programme were conducted during the year like – breast feeding awareness; blood & organ donation awareness; sexual harassment; breast & cervical cancer awareness; world preventive health care day; no crackers etc.

International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21/6/2015 by participating in the yoga event organized by VNSGU at Sarthana, Surat

Annual N.S.S. Camp: A 7-day Annual N.S.S. Camp has been organized from 30th November to 6th December, 2015 at Nirmala Pranjivan Bhagat Vruddhashram, Bhata Hazira Road, Surat in which 22 N.S.S. volunteers participated

Visit to Vrudhdhashram & Balashram: 50 students visited Shri. Bhartimaya Ananddham Vruddhashram, Surat as a part of the Rose Day celebrations and offered the lovely roses to the senior citizens as a token of love,  sensitivity and warmth towards them and which in turn was equally reciprocated.  40 students visited Balashram, Vanita Vishram Prayogik Shala and Children Day Care – Anganwadi, Surat and celebrated the joyful festival of Kite Flying by donating Laddoos, Chikis and Kites with social message to the children.

Blood Donation Camp: It was organized on the occasion of College Establishment Day ie. 9th July, 2015 with the generous assistance and kind co-operation of Surat Raktadan Kendra and Family Physicians Association.

Self-defence Training Camp: As a part of the government initiative of Women Empowerment 4 Self Defence workshops of 15 days each were conducted from June to September by Mr. Pamir Shah-Certified Self-Defense Trainer and Mr. Darayas Cooper-Martial Arts’ Trainer and Guinness World Record holder

Civil Defense Workshop was conducted from 20/7/2015 to 24/7/2015 by P.I.  A. B. Kadam , Dr. P.P. Mistry, Chief Warden & Prof. Vijaybhai Patel-Divisional Warden of Civil Defense, Surat.

Thalassemia Awareness and Check-up Camp was organized in collaboration with Surat Raktadan Kendra

Medical Check-up Camp was organized on 11-13 February 2016 for B.Com Part-I students along with Hemoglobin and Dental check-up by Dr. Bhupesh Chavda-Director Hari Om General Hospital Surat.

Celebration of Being Human Week: N.S.S. volunteers motivated all the students of the college to observe Being Human Week in which the students organized donations like Woolen Clothes, Toiletries, Snacks; Note-books, stationery items and Biscuits Donation in various institutions.

2014-15

Tree plantation: A Tree Plantation Programme was conducted on the 3rd of July 2014. The students of NSS planted about 50 plants on the campus ground and expressed their feelings towards environment awareness. Through the slogans of “SAVE TREES SAVE EARTH” the students also made efforts to generate Environmental Awareness in the general public.

Celebration of Various Days: The N.S.S. unit of the college organized celebration of days in a unique manner making one realize the importance of social and moral duties. Various days like Group Day with Social Message, Communal Harmony Day, Save Petrol Day, Hindi Diwas, Entrepreneur Day, Save Girl Child Day, Friendship Day and Rakshabandhan by visiting the schools of specially abled children, Children’s Day by donating generously to the needy children, Rose Day with the old people of Ananddham Vruddhashram, Kite Flying Day by donating Chikis and Kites to the underprivileged children etc. were celebrated.

Thus these days intended to create not only an atmosphere of fun, joy and excitement amongst students but also to make them realize their social and moral obligations.

Annual N.S.S. Camp: A 7-day Annual N.S.S. Camp was organized from 5th January to 11th January, 2015 at Shri. Bhartimaya Ananddham Vruddhashram, Shri Ambika Niketan Trust, Vesu Road, Surat in which 35 N.S.S. volunteers participated. In this camp, activities like prayers in morning-evening, seminar on cleanliness, cleaning of Vruddhashram, temple and library, helping in preparation and serving lunch to the senior citizens, cultural programme and games for the entertainment of elders, distributing fruits and snacks to Rundh Village Primary School, rally creating awareness against the use of alcohol and tobacco in the neighbouring slum areas of Rundh village, etc. were conducted. Also the students went door to door and collected junk from the neighbouring residential areas and the money acquired from the sale of junk was utilized to donate stationeries to Vesu Primary School, Surat.

Visits:

Students visited Mamta Mansik Swasthya  Kendra, Surat and Sir Kikabhai Premchand Bahera Balko matenu Vidya Sankul,Surat as a part of Friendship Day and Rakshabandhan celebration on 2nd  August & 9th August and tied Friendship bands and Rakhis on the wrists of the differently abled children as an expression of love.

On the occasion of Children’s Day, the girls of our college generously donated note-books, stationeries and chocolates to the underprivileged children of Vanita Vishram Prayogik Kanyashala, Surat and also organized an awareness programme to highlight the importance of clean and healthy living.

As a part of the Rose Day celebrations, the students visited Shri. Bhartimaya Ananddham Vruddhashram, Surat and offered the lovely roses to the senior citizens as a token of love, sensitivity and warmth towards them which in turn was equally reciprocated.

Also the students celebrated the joyful festival of Kite Flying by donating Chikis and Kites to the children of Kendra Prarthmik Shala, Vesu, Surat.

Camps:

Medical, Eye & Dental Check-up Camp was organized with the help of Dr. Bhupesh Chavda and his team from 19/8/2014 to 22/8/14 for college students. Approx. 250 students took the benefit of the said camp.

Eye Check-up Camp was organized on 22/8/2014 with the help of Netra Opticals. Along with the check-up, awareness was created among students regarding eye donation and eye-care.

Blood Donation Camps: They were held twice – First, on the occasion of College Establishment Day ie. 9th July, 2014 and then on 1st December 2014 with the generous assistance and kind co-operation of Surat Raktadan Kendra and HDFC Bank respectively. Present students, faculty members and even the alumnus of the college donated blood which is a noble deed. 68 units of blood was collected from these Blood Donation Camps.

Self-defence Training Camp: The college initiated a ‘Self Defence Training Programme’ in collaboration with Police Headquarters, Surat under the guidance of Smt. Archana Shivhare, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Surat. Taking advantage of the invaluable opportunity many of the girls got enrolled in the camp in the current academic year too, and training for two batches comprising of 105 students was conducted on the college premises in the month of August, 2014 as a part of the government initiative of Women Empowerment.</p

Thalassemia Awareness and Check-up Camp was organized in collaboration with Surat Raktadan Kendra on 8th December, 2014 to create awareness about the same.

These camps proved to be an eye-opener to all the students of the college in terms of overall physical health.

Awareness Programmes:

Breast-Feeding Awareness was organized in collaboration with Sheth P.T. Mahila College of Arts and Home Science on 5/8/14 which highlighted the importance of breast feeding.

Hemoglobin Awareness was organized with the help of Dr. Bhupesh Chavda who suggested various nutrient intakes in order to increase the hemoglobin level in the body.

Note-books, stationery and other toiletries donation: It was organized on 19/11/14. These donations were made to the girls’ of Juvenile Home as an expression of compassion towards them.
