Therefore, to promote the habit of reading amongst students and to ensure the development of critical thinking in them, the college organize Intra-Collegiate and Inter-Collegiate competitions pertaining to literary domain. These events provide a platform to the students for exhibiting their creativity, originality, potential, confidence and communication skills. Formation of Literary Club: To encourage students to display their intellectual and independent thinking skills and imbibe a sense of confidence, the college has initiated the Literary Club entitled Gyanarjan. The aim of the club is to inculcate among students a love for language, enhance their literary skills and promote the ability to speak and emote before an audience thereby increasing the emotional quotient of the students. Accordingly, the club provided a platform for the following literary activities: Organisation of Intra-Collegiate Competitions: Competitions like Extempore, Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Book Review, Essay Writing as well as management related competitions like Management Lessons from Movies, Budding Entrepreneurs, Logo Quiz and Management Quiz Competitions were organized round the year with an aim to polish the skills of expression and presentation. Participation & Achievements in Inter-Collegiate Literary Events: The college expresses great satisfaction and pleasure at the remarkable achievements of its students and expects that they will keep up the good work of bringing recognition and success to the Institution. Organisation of Intra-Collegiate Competitions: Competitions like Debate, Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Book Review and Essay Writing were organized round the year with an aim to polish the skills of expression and presentation. Participation & Achievements in Inter-Collegiate Literary Events: 17 students participated in “Sardar Patel: An Organizer”-Essay Writing Contest organized by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Smarak Trust, New Delhi. 6 students participated in Inter-College Poetry Recitation, Book Review, Essay Writing, Elocution and Extempore Competitions organized by J. Z. Shah Arts & H. P. Desai Commerce, Amroli College, Surat. 1 student participated in Inter-College Elocution Competition organized by Navyug Commerce College. 4 students participated in Inter-College Essay-Writing Competition organized by Yuvak Vikas Trust, Ahmedabad. 4 students participated in Inter-College Poetry Recitation Competition organized by Sir K.P. College of Commerce, Surat. 2 students participated in Inter-College Law related subject Elocution Competition organized by M.T.B. Arts College, Surat and Ms. Khushi Khanna secured3rd Position. 4 students participated in Public Speaking Contest 2018–Regional Round of The Times of India-Torrent Power and Khushi Khanna became2nd Runner Up. 1 student participated in Inter-College Elocution Competition organized by D.R. Patel and R.B. Patel Commerce College, Surat. Ms. Khushi Khanna secured 3rd Position. 22 students participated in Inter-College – The Business Game, Ad Mad Show, The Treasure Hunt and Quiz Competitions of ‘Impetus 2019’ organized by Shri. S.V.Patel College of Computer Science and Business Management, Surat. 1 student participated in Inter-College Book Review Competition of ‘Protsahan -2019’ organized by Bhagwan Mahavir College of Business Administration, Surat. 1 student participated in VNSGU level Bhalubhai Memorial Elocution Competition of ‘Blossom 2019’ organized by S.P.B. English Medium College, Surat. 2 students participated Inter-College Elocution Competition of ‘Inceptum’ organized by G.I.D.C. Rajju Shroff Rofel Institute of Management Studies, Vapi. 7 students participated in Inter-Collegiate Essay Writing, Elocution, Poetry Recitation & Power Point Presentation Competitions of The Super Speaker & Super Cultural Contest-19 organized by VFS Charitable Trust & Shri Bhadresh Shah, Surat and Ayushka Jain won 3rd Prize in Power Point Presentation Competition. 2 students participated in Inter-College Poetry Recitation Competition ‘Abhivyakti-19’ organized by R. K. Desai College, Vapi. Vidhi Jain, Ms. Nirali Jadhav and Ms. Sumankumari Singh participated in Inter-College PowerPoint Presentation Competition of “Utkarsh” organized by B.R.C.M. College of Business Administration, Surat and won 2nd prize. 2 students participated in Inter-College Elocution and Book Review Competition organized by Z.F. Wadia Women’s College & N.K. Jhota College of Commerce, Surat. Rupal Bhanushali and Ms. Ayushka Jain participated in Inter-College Debate Competition of “BizXcellence 2019” organized by SRIMCA-MBA, affiliated to Uka Tarsadia University, Bardoli and won 1st Prize in it. 2 students participated in Inter-College Elocution Competition of ‘Inferno’organized by S.D.J. International College, Surat. 1 student participated in Inter-College Book Review Competition organized by C.D. Barfiwala College of Commerce, Surat. Organisation of Inter-Collegiate Competitions: We had organized ‘Enthusia Fest’-Inter Collegiate Competitions on December 23, 2017 pertaining to the domain of literature, fine arts and music comprising events like Accounting Maestro, Cartooning Mania, Ad Film Maharathi, Karoke Super Singer and Creative Cake Decoration. Eminent and well-known personalities of different fields graced the occasion as judges. Approximately 214 students from around 27 colleges of VNSGU participated in the Programme and made it a huge success. Organisation of Intra-Collegiate Competitions: Competitions like Debate, Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Book Review and Essay Writing were organized round the year with an aim to polish the skills of expression and presentation. Celebration of Library Day: To make reading good books a natural cultural practice and to institutionalize reading habits among students, a Book Review Competition was organized wherein many students reviewed the books of well-known writers. Also, Ms. Savi Sharma, our alumnus and a renowned bestselling author was invited to guide and motivate the students to cultivate reading and writing skills by conducting seminars on ‘Importance of Book Reading’and ‘How to write your first book?’. Also, along with these seminars, a display of her books was also arranged to motivate and inspire students to enter in the arena of creative writing. Participation in Bhartiya Sanskruti Gyan Pariksha: 34 students participated inBhartiya Sanskruti Gyan Pariksha organized by Dev Sanskruti Participation in Nation-wide literary competitions: 11 students participated in All India Essay Writing Event 2017 organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission and Essays of 4 students were selected and they were honoured with certificates. 8 students participated in “Dhai Akhar” Nationwide Letter Writing Campaign organized by Department of Posts, India. 10 students participated in Symposium on ‘Discourses in Gender Issues’ organized by Department of Economics, VNSGU, Surat. 7 students participated in Indian Young Leadership Development Program-Misaal Project organized by Oasis – A Selfless International Society. 5 students participated in National Accounting Talent Search 2017-18 organized by Indian Accounting Association. Participation & Achievements in Inter-Collegiate Literary Events: Almost 85 students participated in Inter-Collegiate literary events like Poetry Recitation, Elocution, Essay Writing, Accounting Maestro, Book review etc. organized by 20 different institutions and won prizes by performing remarkably in some of them. Ayushka Jain secured Second Prize & Ms. Radha Prajapati secured Third Prize in Extempore Competition organized by J. Z. Shah Arts & H. P. Desai Commerce College, Amroli, Surat Khushi Khanna secured Third Prize both in Shree Bhulabhai Smarak Elocution Competition held at SPB English Medium College and Super speaker competition organized by SCOPA. Radha Prajapati secured First Prize in both Elocution competition organized by Shri. Sathya Sai Seva Organization and Poetry Recitation Competition organized by Smt. G.N. Pandya Commerce College, Surat. Similarly, she secured Third Position in Elocution Competition of KCG organized by VNSGU. Organisation of Inter-Collegiate Competitions: Our college had organized Enthusia Fest Inter-Collegiate Competitions on 5th January 2017 pertaining to the domain of literature and fine arts which included events like PowerPoint Presentations, On-the-spot Photography and Face Painting. Eminent and well known personalities of different fields graced the occasion as judges. Approximately 90 students from around 24 colleges of VNSGU participated in the Programme and made it a huge success. Organisation of Intra-Collegiate Competitions:Competitions like Quiz, Debate, Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Book Review and Essay Writing were organized between 15/07/2016 and 30/08/2016 with an aim to polish the skills of expression and presentation. Women’s University, Mumbai: Ms. Twinkle Ahuja participated in English and Hindi Essay Writing as well as Elocution Competition in Regional as Yuva Mahotsav. Participation & Achievements in Inter-Collegiate Literary Events: Organization of Inter-Collegiate Competitions: Our college had organized Inter Collegiate Competitions on 4th September, 2015 pertaining to the domain of literature, music and fine arts which included Elocution Competition ,70’s Karaoke Singing (solo) Competition and On-The-Spot-Poster-Making Competition. Dr. Kiran Pandya, Senate member as well as Professor and Head of MHRD department of VNSGU was invited as Chief Guest for the programme. Also eminent and well known personalities of different fields graced the occasion as judges. Approximately 68 students from 24 colleges of VNSGU participated in the Programme and made it a huge success. Organization of Intra-Collegiate Competitions: Competitions like Quiz, Debate, Elocution, Poetry Recitation, Book Review and Essay-writing were organized between 24/07/2015 and 13/08/2015 with an aim to polish the skills of expression and presentation. Organization of a Book Fair: To make reading good books a natural cultural practice and to institutionalize reading habits among students, a Book Review Competition wherein many students reviewed the books of well know writers was organized. Also a Book fair was organized under Library Day celebration in the college premises and students purchased books in large numbers to make the event a grand success. Participation & Achievements in Literary events of Regional and Grand finale Yuva Mahotav of S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai: Ms. Shivani Shroff and Ms. Twinkle Ahuja won First Prize in English and Hindi Essay Writing Competition respectively in Regional as well as in Grand finale Yuva Mahotsav. While Ms. Varsha Mishra won the Second Prize in Hindi Essay Writing Competition at Regional Yuva Mahotsav. Participation & Achievements in Inter-Collegiate Literary Events:
