One-Day National Level Seminar on “Performance Based Appraisal System Through API”
(This Seminar is over)
AboutKeynote Speaker & Resource PersonDetailsRegistrationCommitteeReport
The much debated CAS-API (Academic Performance Indicator) system, links promotions of faculty members in Indian universities/colleges to a quantifiable assessment of their performance. It was introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in its 2010 Regulations.
The vision behind introducing API was not only to save the universities from wasteful expenditure and resources, but also to provide quality education to masses and promote the standards of higher education.
Since then, there has been mounting doubts and confusions regarding API among the massive sections of the teaching community. The contentious Academic Performance Indicators (API) that had the university teaching community up in arms across the country since 2010 has been modified and made flexible. Thus, reintroducing it across institutions of higher education the University Grants Commission (UGC) decided to retain the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) with Academic Performance Index (API), as a mandatory requirement for universities to select and promote faculty members.
Therefore it has become the need of the hour for the teaching community to understand and absorb the regulations related to the various categories of the Academic Performance Indicators (API). The seminar proposes to provide a platform to all the academicians to gain a detailed insight and retrospect themselves for achieving a higher API.
The major focus of the seminar will be
- Importance of Research in Higher Education
- Major Concerns, Issues, Perspectives & Challenges related to API
- Based on the teacher’s self-assessment, API scores will be discussed for
Category I: Teaching, Learning And Evaluation Related Activities
Category II: Co-curricular, Extension And Professional Development
Category-III: Research And Academic Contributions.
