One Day National Workshop on “Statistical Tools: Chi Square and Factor Analysis using SPSS” organised

The Higher Education Institutions in India are facing critical challenges in creating, maintaining and nurturing the level of quality research in different fields like social sciences, medical sciences and pure sciences. The need of the hour is to develop a sound methodological base of Research among the potential educationalists and researchers to cope up with future challenges. A good data analytical skill is the key to a sound research output. To operationalize this vision, this workshop has been planned to train, reorient and reactive the research scholars in the data analytical skill.

This workshop consisted of four sessions – Inaugural, Technical Session I, Technical Session II and Valedictory Session.

Inaugural Session was graced by Dr. Ramesh G. Kothari, Former Vice Chancellor, VNSGU, Surat & Ex- Dean, Faculty of Education & Psychology, The MSU of Baroda, Varodara as Chief Guest & Key Note speaker. Dr. Harish Padh, Former Vice Chancellor, S. P. University, Vallabh Vidhyanagar, Anand was invited as Guest of Honour. Special Guests Mr. Prashant Barsing and Dr. Bhavesh Vanparia also graced the session. From the members of management, Dr. P. K. Desai and Dr. S. K. Mohanty remained present. Head of Institutions of different colleges also marked their presence. Dr. Abhilasha Agarwal delivered a welcome address. Dr. Ramesh Kothari, in his key note address made capitulations on the topic; ‘Quality of Research in Higher Education’     

Technical Session I was conducted by Mr. Prashant Barsing, Assistant Professor at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai on the topic ‘Chi Square Analysis using SPSS’

Technical Session II was conducted by Dr. Bhavesh Vanparia, Assistant Professor at Department of Human Resource Development, VNSGU, Surat on the topic ‘Factor Analysis using SPSS’

The main intention of both the technical sessions was to explain with the help of case study, the application of both of these statistical techniques and the same was satisfactorily delivered.

Valedictory Session was held on completion of both the technical sessions and the certificates were distributed to all the participants. The session was chaired by Dr. Bhavesh Vanparia.

In all 80 delegates from 35 different colleges and departments enriched themselves from this workshop out of which 12 were Students who also took the hands-on experience.

On the basis of the feedback received from the delegates, it can be analysed that the delegates were highly satisfied with the overall arrangements, content and resource persons of the Workshop.
